SINOPSIS:

In the small village of San Basilio de Palenque (Colombia) there is one collective dream: for the people to return to their homeland, Africa. Named after Benkos Bioho, the maroon founder of San Basilio de Palenque, this documentary depicts the lives of the palenqueros who believe their souls travel back to Africa after they die. The Lumbalu is their burial ritual and with drumming and delicate dances they help their relatives' souls to find the right path. The longing for this land, so distant yet so remembered through oral tradition, is at the heart of this story told by the sound of drums.
